Penrhos College Early Learning Centre

The project followed a traditional procurement route, with the Client’s Representative engaging and managing the design team both pre- and post-contract. On the first floor, demolition of existing load-bearing and non-load-bearing walls allowed integration and enlargement of classrooms. Steel beams were installed to maintain structural integrity, and gyprock walls and ceilings were reconfigured accordingly. Existing services, including hydraulics, electrical, and mechanical systems, were relocated or upgraded to meet the school’s requirements.

Ground floor works included the construction of a steel-framed structure with face brickwork to match the existing building and a large canopy over the school entrance. Roofing was completed using a combination of tiles and Colorbond sheeting. Internal walls were lined with gyprock, and suspended grid ceilings were installed along with electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical services.

Internal finishes on both floors included heavy-duty vinyl flooring imported from Europe, durable paint finishes, and a combination of solid-core and safety-glazed doors. Externally, paving was completed around the new entrances and surrounding areas.

The project was successfully delivered within budget and completed on time. Since completion, MRO Property Services has continued to assist the school with minor works as they upgrade their facilities in Como.
